¿Why didn´t I bring my fanny pack??

We´ve been going like crazy lately...especially since we only have 7days left...

Lets see...

Today, we all got up bright and early (at 7am) and set out on an early skate session. There were a few spots the guys were wanting to get footage at... Sarita and I were mostly there for the ride. I did have more energy than I thought and managed a morning skate-a-thon, followed up with an afternoon of sight seeing at the Sangrada Familia cathedral. This building was started back in the late 19th century and still has a lot of work ahead of it. We all kind of thought it was a little bit of a tourist scam, as they charge you first for admission and then for the elevator ride up to the top (this was the only way up, as the stairs were for descent only.) This may seem weird at first until you are up there and every spiralling staircase corridor is barely big enough for two people to pass by. You learn very quickly not to look the stranger in the eye as you can´t help but rub up against eachother -kind of awkward but memorable... Aside from that this place was something else. It was huge: it was breathtaking: it made my knees weak. I don´t think I ever considered a fear of heights until I was up there and your squeezing by others through skinny stone staircases, 65m in the air. I got some great photos, unfortunately some of them are a little blurrier than I would have liked. The basic gist is you go up in a 2euro elevator (which I snuck out of paying because the guy didn´t count how many people had paid) then you explore through the "one way" staircases as you gradually descend down long spiral staircases within huge columns. There were windows through out which had great aerial perspectives of Barcelona (not to mention how high you really are.) The pictures I took were sometimes blurred if I heard someone coming down the stairs behind me and knew I would have to get moving. ...still can´t figure out how to turn the pictures... but this is the Sagrada Familia.

.....I´m having problems uploading the images from the interior. If I figure out whats going on I will post them later...

Yesterday, was a day up at Mont Juic. There´s a lot of tourist attractions of there... to name a few the Olympic Stadium, the Jardin Botanic (Botanical Garden), and numerous galleries and theatres. We ventured through the gardens of Mont Juic and found some treasurable sights along the way. These are a few of my favorite shots from that stroll.

Next we went up to the Olympic Stadium... this picture does no justice as to how large it really was...

Then we went to the Botanical Garden and managed to avoid paying by sneaking in behind a large group of students (it looked like a field trip or something and the ticket guy was busy with them.) In case you shaking you finger, the garden was bogus. I´m glad I didn´t pay. It was just plants on a desert-like hillside. The view was nice and I managed to take a few good snapshots but I wouldn´t have paid 5euros.... just not my thing I suppose. This was taken at the top of the garden, looking out towards the sea... its not actually the park area (its kind of out of bounds) but she´s a beauty!

The days prior consisted of skating, sunrises, and soaking up the sun. I think the last thing I mentionned was the guys having an all nighter to see the sun... well we ended up doing that the next day as well. It was Sunday night, which we had been told was a beach party night. We went down there and couldn´t find the spot so instead went skinny dipping and decided to wait out the 4.5hr wait until the sun rose. Trust me, what seemed like a minor detail wasn´t that minor. It was tough, we were all tired but we did it and it was beautiful. We got back to the apartment at 8am and had a good rest. Pat, Sarita and I spent the rest of that day napping at the beach. I think that night was a movie night. We rented ´Life Aquatic´ and vegged out.

My exact memories are a little blurry´... we´ve had a few other days of skatin and going out to the skate bar. I met a few new peeps from around the globe. Brandon had his board flattened by a garbage truck... we were at Uni the other night and they were just starting to film his line when he messed up and his board shot right into the road. One car drove by, missed it; another car drove by, dodged it; then the biggest truck that could possibly drive by comes, and SCHMUCK! It was unfortunate but pretty funny! I had to take a picture.

These are a few other photos from Parc Guell... they were too nice not to show, but damn I have to figure out whats with the tilting vertical shots:::

I think tomorrow is going to be another 7am-er. There´s a few other tourist sights we want to check out and spots to skate... plus there´s the beach... so many plans and very little time!

Until next time... thanks for your interest!
