Things remain stimulating here...can´t exactly recall the exact days, as they all seem to meld into on when your not overly concerned with time... Today we all took a look at the Musee d´Art Contemporare de Barcelona (MACBA) which is the contemporary art gallery here (and also a very popular skate spot on the weekends). Overall, the exhibit was alright. They are currently between shows, so they had a temporary exhibit dedicated to theatre. Although, there was a lot to see I personally enjoy large scale installations or sculptures when I go to contemporary galleries. However, the show was interesting and everyone seemed pleased when we were done. It was pretty sweet going to a gallery with Pat, Brandon, and Eric... I don´t think they´ve had much history in galleries so it was nice to see there first experience. (well done boys!)... We topped off the afternoon with topless tanning at the beach. Here there are people that walk up and down the beach selling Cervesa´s (beer) and massahi [?] (massages). After the number of times we have turned the massages down we all finally gave in and were pampered while lying on our mats... for only 5euros it was money well spent! I think tonight is going to be a night a Monolo´s (the local skate bar.) Everyone is eating dinner and getting there drink on right now...
The last few days have been a lot of skating. The guys have been getting a lot of footage and hopefully will have a ´´Rudy Quatro´´ coming soon. For those that don´t know this reference... the guys are all a part of a skate video series that hailed from Qualicum Beach. They have released three videos so far, which was supposed to be the end of the trilogy but hopefully this will heighten there need for more. Anyway, after a good few afternoons of skating in the blistering heat we have ended the day at the beach or with a movie rental. We are all getting quite familiar with the area and have found movies! In our apartment we have a DVD player and a VHS but Pat is the only one that brought videos. Needless to say we´ve watched the same skate videos the whole time so once we saw the movie store we were all excited! The other night it was Requium for a Dream; tonight its the Neverending Story (after Monolo´s that is.) The gang is pretty entertaining and I was impressed by Eric´s impersonations from the Neverending Story (one of my favorite movies of all time!) You´d think when your with the same group of peeps 24/7 you would start butting heads but everyone is level headed and on the same page... there seems to be a lot of laughing which is definatly a good thing!
The other day, Sarita and I let the boys mission off to skate/hang at MACBA. We were interested in checking out a few art galleries and do a little bit of shopping. We stumbled upon this really great gallery that is just down the street from our apartment. There was a really nice exhibit of photography and we recieved a guide for all the galleries in the area... can´t wait to check them out! We checked out a few more galleries, shopped the side streets of La Ramblas and met up at the beach with the guys a half an hour fashionably late. Just down from our usual lounging spot on the sand is this great wall on concrete blocks. You can walk out to the tip reasonably easy, where you find large graffitti style graphics painted on the sides of the blocks. Really impressive stuff when you scaling block to block. We relaxed out there and all got trigger happy. I found the remains of a beach (err... block) fire and decided to leave my own mark with the chars. Now, on the side of one of the blocks is some artwork a la Tani. I got some photos and will post them soon... I have just been lazy when it comes to bringing my camera and stuff to the internet cafe... tomorrow I will do it I promise!
Thanks for everyone´s comments! Its nice to hear familiar names... keep them coming!
Katie: say hi to the Drift gang and Kelli if you see her. Let Rikhi know that I forgot to bring the business card so I won´t be able to send a postcard, but send my hello´s!
Colin: You are still a man!
