creaks and cracks

Morning... well just about afternoon but it feels like morning. Last night the gang all decided to go to a club at 2am (this is a standard time here b/c that´s when they open here). The night was a bust. The club that Pat knew about was closed and another one we found was too expensive. So we ended up wandering the busy streets of Barcelona and getting to bed at 5am. I´m bagged.

This week has been hectic. The first few days another couple of chaps from Qualicum/ Vancouver (Chris/ Justin) were here; they slept on the floor. We went to the beach, skated at this weird wavy park, a sci-fi looking building, then went to skate Uni with a few of the London (Ontario) guys for there last night. Next day, Chris left and it was time to explore the side streets of La Ramblas. There were so many cool little shops... SO many that the guys decided to peace and meet up with us later. A little bit of miscommunication later, Sarita and I were off shopping and went to the Dali museum. His work was impressive. Non of his recognizable paintings were there, instead the exhibit was more or less his early works. After a day of museums and shopping, Sarita and I ventured back to the apartment. Sarita had recieved an email from her twin brother that morning. He and his girlfriend were going to be coming to Barce that night by train and were hoping to meet up. The plan was to skate and Sants (which is right in from of the Brace Train Station) and meet up with them. This was also the rendezvous for the original crew members. Sarita and I got there without a minute to spare. Since we had such a full day we didn´t even realise that the guys had been fretting ALL day... I guess they thought we weren´t going off on our own until AFTER lunch.

Anyway, Justin stayed, Max and Meryl stayed... Justin left and Sarita spent the next day hanging with her bro. I went with the boys. We got on the metro, went to Parallel (a spot with nice smooth ground, manual pads and trees breaking the whole thing up and providing much needed shade.) After a few hours we ventured on to a spot called Espanya. This appeared to be ledge in a courtyard surrounded by preforming arts halls... I think they were schools. The guys shot skate footage while I juggled skating, admired the large scale sculpture that was being installed by what looked like students, and was hit on by a 14yr old, named Jonathan, that claimed he would be my boyfriend after yelling, "Baby! BAby! Look at me! LOOk at me!"... "I do this one for you ;) " It was pretty entertaining actually. The guys all had a good laugh at my expense... this kid was unbelievable... it must be a Rico Swavee Spanish thing! At the end of the day everyone was stoked after skating. The guys got some footage and the group morale was at an all time high!

The next day Sarita came with all of us for another good skate mission. We went to an actual skate park this time (which is odd b/c there are so many street spots, parks are almost unneccessary and unimpressive.) It was nice to be skating a park but the peak, heat of the sun was something else. We ventured around to a few more unnamed spots and made our way home. The guys got footage out of the skate... they were stoked.

Yesterday, was the beach and then a skate. I was pretty burnt out from skating the last few days and being in the sun. I mostly chilled like a lam-o on the bench while the guys filmed a couple more lines and Sarita practiced her nollies. After everyone did there part we went home for some dinner and vina... which ended up leading to a night excursion to the club. The rest is pretty self explanatory... everyone else is still sleeping. I snuck out b/c my single cot has pretty much been adopted as Brandon´s place to cram in. I end up waking up cramped with a sore back and can´t fall asleep... too many sleeps like this and I will not be chipper chapper.

Today, I am talking to the landlord about getting another cot.

Tani! That all sounds awesome. You are a very interesting read indeed. Keep on rocking in the free world and say hi to Sarita (and Max if he's still there) for me!
